Present research on the effects of 28 insecticides on museum artifacts and humans. Products considered include bendiocarb, carbon disulphide, DDT, dichlorous and other organophosphates, lindane, methyl bromide PDB, phosphine and vikane. Information is presented for each product individually, in alphabetical order. Considers their effectiveness, toxicity, potential damage to and compatibility with museum materials. Outlines documentation procedures for the reporting of use and effects of insecticides. 71 references.
