Abstract
A pair of severely degraded rubber bathing shoes (dating from the 1920s) were reshaped, nemerous areas repaired, losses infilled and weak areas strengthened using toned Japanesa tissue adhered with wheat starch paste. A fitted patted support was constructed for each shoe and an alternate form of display support devised. After conservation the shoes were placed in a specially designed case under nitrogen to retard their degradation. Diagrams, list of material suppliers, 10 references.
