Abstract
The history and development of blue, violet and green organic artists' pigments are discussed. Pigment identification using microchemical tests is described. Tests use concentrated sulphuric acid, concentrate nitric acid, and alcoholic potassium hydroxide applied to paint cross-sections, or microcrystallizations from concentrated sulphuric acid solutions of pigments particles. Together these tests enable correct identification. 3 references.
