Abstract
A student in the early 1950's, Henry Hodges became an assistant lecturer at the Institute of Archaeology, London, in 1957. Changes were occurring quickly both at the institute and in the conservation world at large. Keeping up with the times meant changes in the curriculum and the type of students that were being produced and a change in the image of the conservator. Success and failures are discussed with the benefit of hindsight and the passage of time. Photographs. -- ICCROM
