Abstract
The Macauley Theatre Photographs Collection, University of Louisville (USA), contains ca. 1500 photographs, posters, and handbills of performers in Louisville, 1873-1925. In 1968 it was transferred to the photographic archives, after long-term theatre display. It had also been badly stored and some photographic items were beginning to deteriorate. A computerised cataloguing project was begun. About 25 data categories were used. During cataloguing the condition was noted, and items transferred to better storage conditions. The material is now available to various levels of access and cross-referencing. The cost of the whole project, excluding computer time, was under 1500. -- ICCROM
