Abstract
Traces the shifts in taste and changes in the types of stone used through a study of 212 fragments of inlays, slabs, and cornices. They range from Purbeck marble through French and Italian stones to Aegean island marbles, and were put to a variety of uses including veneers and opus sectile. Their import began as early as last quarter of 1st century. -- AATA
