Abstract
The earthquake of 1978 accelerated the deterioration of monuments in Thessaloniki. Restoration of the monuments began in 1980 by the Ephoreia of Byzantine Antiquities and the Service for Restoration of Monuments. The problems of the restoration of monuments are examined on a national level and proposals are made for the organization of architectural conservation efforts in Greece. -- AATA
