Abstract
Small samples (5x10x20mm) of 28 tropical timbers were tested against the dry-wood termite <i>Cryptotermes cynocephalus</i> and the subterranean termite <i>Coptotermes curvignathus</i>. The results revealed that four species were completely durable against both termites: <i>Dalbergia latifolia, Eusideroxylon zwageri, Intsia bijuga</i> and <i>Tectona grandis</i>. Relatively durable species were <i>Albizia chinensis, Artocarpus integer, Lagerstroemia speciosa</i> and <i>Metrosideros</i> sp. The most susceptible species were <i>Agathis alba (A. Dammara)</i>, <i>Dipterocarpus</i> spp. (5) and <i>Mangifera</i> spp.
