At the Braunschweiischen Landesmuseum a series of experiments using different pesticide gases on painted wooden objects was carried out in order to determine the effects of these gases on the medium, puttys, pigments and metals. The pesticides were: ethylene oxide (ETOX), at 800g/m3, 6 hours in a vacuum; hydrogen cyanide (CYANOSIL) at 30g/m3, 96 hours normal pressure; methyl bromide (Haltox) 20 g/m3, 48 hours at normal pressurel phosphoric acid (PHOSTOIN) 3G/M3, 62 hours at normal presssure. On the whole there were no reactions with the pesticide gases. Table of test results.
