An article outlining the causes of deterioration of facade stucco and its restoration, with regard to work carried out in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia. Basic factors in stucco degradation include the decline of the stuccoworkers' craft, inadequate maintenance, climatic conditions influencing the release of capillary moisture in plaster, and pollution causing incrustations. Restoration included the removal and replacement of badly deteriorated ornamentation, consolidation, strengthening, and repainting with natural paintings. Materials used included acrylic emulsions, silicone, and epoxy resins.
