Abstract
NOx is an important kind of pollutants relevant for cultural relic conservation. It has been noted recently that bamboo carbon is a plentiful and cheap adsorbent for removing pollutants. In this paper, the adsorption effect of low-temperature bamboo carbon for removing NOx is studied. Surface modification of low-temperature bamboo carbon was studied by SEM. Results of these studies showed that low-temperature bamboo carbon can remove between 84%-94% of NO when initial concentration of NO is between 133-457 [mu]g/m3 and is between 93.3%-97.7% of NO2 when concentration of NO2 is between 82-453 [mu]g/m3. When NOx , which is a mixture of NO and NO2, is 500 [mu]g/m3, the adsorption level for NO decreases to 44.7%, whereas it remains at 98% for NO2.
