Abstract
The proper management of Aboriginal archaeological burials raises basic problems for public archaeological agencies in Australia. The paper discusses the examination of bark cylinder burials from Queensland and relates the results with public policy. The paper discusses the nature, contents, history, and conservation of the bark cylinders. It is concluded that public policy to protect the burial sites is inadequate. -- AATA
