Abstract
This paper describes the racemization reaction and its application to archaeology. Amino acid racemization is influenced by a range of environmental factors, in particular, temperature. Therefore, the best suited sites for its successful application to geochronology are those in which temperature history can be inferred to be similar for all the samples to be dated.
