Abstract
Gaseous reduction of corrosion products, useful in restoring metal archaeological objects, is discussed in a review with 11 references. A summary is presented in the form of a check list to insure awareness of possible pitfalls. Often reasonable results are obtained by cleaning, warming to drive off water, and exposing to a mildly reducing atmosphere.
