A method of removing carbonate and corrosion layers from the surface of objects made of metal, stone, and ceramics with the help of film-forming solutions of polymer-polyelectrolytes containing carboxyl groups has been proposed and successfully used in the State Hermitage. The application of these solutions makes it possible to remove the layers gradually and to clean the objects to the desirable degree.
