Abstract
In addition to the necessary, anatomical knowledge, patience, flexibility, and weighing of the law of diminishing returns which the restorer of archeological skulls needs, the following procedure is recommended: rapid washing; careful and thorough cleaning of all fragments; negative pressure impregnation of bone with a hardening plastic; ordered assembling, with sphenoid and mandible as keys to alignment of vault and face: correction of warping through use of a slow-drying plastic glue such as Alvar 7/70; and cautious restoration in order to make the most of the sample available for study.
