Abstract
Thermoluminescence (TL) can be used for dating paleolithic calcite. However, spatial inhomogeneity of TL emission can cause systematic error. A high-grain image intensifier tube was used to observe TL from calcite specimens, and to find evidence of the spatial correlation (zoning) of uranium and TL emission. The significance for dating is illustrated by reference to material from the paleolithic cave at Caune de l'Arago, France. (See also <b>AATA</b> <i>17-45</i>) -- AATA
