Thermoluminescence (TL) can be used for dating paleolithic calcite. However, spatial inhomogeneity of TL emission can cause systematic error. A high-grain image intensifier tube was used to observe TL from calcite specimens, and to find evidence of the spatial correlation (zoning) of uranium and TL emission.
