Pollen analysis was carried out in a podzol profile of mineral soil (grain size 0.06-0.6) inside a Corded Ware dwelling site (2500-2000 BC) in southern Finland. Pollen concentration values in the aeolian sand profile show two maxima, the older one corresponding to the settlement phase mentioned. The correspondence is also evident from the values for phosphorus, calcium, loss-on-ignition, and humus content of each horizon when compared with those of a natural site. The pollen stratigraphy obtained is similar to that in the adjacent lake and bog profiles where the mean vegetation changes, partly caused by human activity, have been ¹⁴C-dated.
