This paper, the first step in a study which is attempting to reconstruct the changing landscape in Rogalan, Southwest Norway, discusses the old coastal landscapes and the intended use of reconstructed paleographical maps. Some of the results obtained from a newly excavated Mesolithic dwelling place situated underneath a beach ridge, as well as the problems they posed, are presented.
