Abstract
Recommends the evaluation and categorization of the holdings of a textile collection and consideration of its future use in order to determine a suitable storage system and plan the design of the needed space. The themes discussed are physical protection, access, and kind of furniture. Describes in general terms the storage system developed for the Copper-Hewitt textile collection, and the specific four types of containers employed: 1) tubes and boxes for rolled textiles; 2) flat storage mats; 3) boxes for flexible objects; and 4) boxes for rigid objects. Precise drawings complete the text.
