Abstract
The custodian of a textile collection is responsible for evaluating and preserving objects that have been removed from everyday life and placed in a museum setting. The authenticity and original appearance of textiles can best be protected by a custodian who is aware of the complexity of information stored in a textile, who can deal accordingly with storage and exhibition, and who will ensure that conservation is provided by a qualified professional.
