Abstract
Frost-damage zones in tree rings may give evidence of climatically-effective volcanic eruptions in the past several thousand years. Recent eruptions show good correlation with frost events. The prehistoric eruption of Santorini (Thera) is dated by this method to 16281626 BC. -- AATA
