Abstract
Guidelines to ensure proper preservation of archaeological artefacts transported from the excavation to the conservation laboratory and finally to the museum. General principles in packaging and storage are given. The importance of the documentation is underlined. Notes on packaging of individual materials to be kept dry are given as well as of vulnerable materials to be kept damp.
