Abstract
After explaining the principles of various instrumental techniques of analysis including: the electronmicroscope, x-ray diffraction camera, x-ray fluorescence spectroscope and the electron microbeam probe -- the author describes how they were applied to the study of materials in fragments of Roman wall paintings from Munsingen and Holstein in Germany. Among materials identified were: Egyptian Blue; hematite, green earth (glauconite) lime, quartz sand and clay minerals. -- AATA
