Abstract
Swelling properties of wood are relevant to wooden musical instruments. Acoustic effects should be considered in conservation. The problem is illustrated with a viola d'amore in the German National Museum in Nuremberg, made in Munich, in 1721, restored so that it can be played. -- AATA
