Discusses the effect of four water emulsion vehicles on the behavior of free films of paints when soaked in distilled water for three days and then redried, when soaked again for three days and redried, and when weathered before soaking for three days and redried. Measured were changes in density, absorption of water, swelling during absorption, shrinkage on redrying, loss in weight while soaking, and loss in weight while weathering.
