The treatment discussed below came out of the ongoing storage project at the American Museum of Natural History, in which all of the textiles are being transferred from cramped drawers and rolled storage into flat, unlayered storage on trays or large screens in new cases. During this process last summer we unrolled a particularly interesting mantle, and upon seeing it fully open again, both the curator and conservators felt that it should be stabilized and made exhibitable.
