Abstract
Terneplate, which is steel sheet coated with a lead-tin alloy, is widely used in the automobile industry. In the USA, there is a long tradition of using terneplate for roofs of buildings. Since World War II there has been increasing interest shown by architects in the design possibilities of terneplate for unusual roof designs and eminent figures like Frank Lloyd Wright and Edward Durell Stone have made use of the material in their buildings on many occasions.
