Amino acid racemization dating techniques are generally described with several examples reported by Bada et al., (AATA 17-862). The effects of environmental factors on racemization rates are discussed, and a list of criteria for checking the reliability is proposed. Illustrated is the authors' age determination of the bone found in the Taishaku Kannondo cave (aspartic acid age). -- AATA
