This report on the excavation of a Romano-British earthwork in Cornwall (1st-4th centuries AD) includes chemical analyses of five samples of iron smelting slags, brief notes on nonferrous metalworking debris, and analyses of glass beads (by Julian Henderson) by x-ray fluorescence. Some of the beads are of the common Roman composition; an annular blue bead with applied white wave of decoration contained approximtely equal amounts of soda and potash (ca. 7%), which breaks from the tradition of soda-lime-silica glasses of this period. Other colors analyzed included black, opaque yellow, pale green, and blue. -- AATA
