Abstract
A technological study of Celtic gold torques (5th-1st century BC) is given with the historical and social context of their use. The wide range of forms and their manufacturing techniques are clearly described and well-illustrated with details shown of the fine workmanship that was achieved. The changing trends and developments in both their use and in the gold technology are observed. General analyses of the torques are given along with dimensions and weights. This technological examination of the gold torques provides additional information for classification and dating, complementing traditional studies of their stylistic and decorative details. -- AATA
