Abstract
A large number of coins of King Harald of Norway (1047-1066) were analyzed by neutron activation. The results, in conjunction with a die study show that there was a progressive debasement throughout their issue from about 97% to 16%. The low silver content of some coins is in agreement with contemporary references to the quality of the coinage. -- AATA
