Abstract
Light interference from the molecular layers of polymer liquid crystals produces highly saturated colors. The color changes with angle of viewing. The spectral reflectance of a colored substrate may be altered by coating with polymer liquid crystals. The application of these coatings to paintings, sculpture, and stained glass is discussed and illustrated. -- AATA
