Abstract
This booklet concerns the first two phases of the restoration and transfer of an entire early 19th Century painted room (including doors, windows and floor) from a house in the village of Karsdale, Nova Scotia to the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. The work was undertaken by two groups of second year fine arts conservation students from Queen's University. Much consideration was given to conservation of the murals in situ. For a number of reasons, this was found to be impractical. The National Gallery acquired the room, and conservation and transfer was undertaken.
