Abstract
In the case of this presentation, the term low-tech should more correctly be designated limited budget, because in many instances the monies available are a critical limiting factor in the realization of suitable conservation space. On the other hand huge budget and high-tech approaches don't necessarily result in excellent laboratories. Limited budgets should not, however, indicate a diminished goal when creating good work space. In fact, sometimes limited resources can be readily overcome through careful understanding of the appropriate characteristics and skillful planning to realize them. If the task of fabricating a conservation facility is addressed in this manner, a state of the art furniture conservation studio can be realized with suprisingly modest expenditures of money.
