Abstract
Materials and technique of three of Cima's paintings were studied. Stratigraphic analyses were carried out and the chemical nature of pigments was determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) analyses. The results obtained are discussed and compared with those concerning other paintings by Cima and other Italian painters of the period, as well as with instructions and recipes provided by antique treatises.
