Photomicrographs of the longitudinal and cross-sections of animal, vegetable, mineral, and inorganic fibers and natural and synthetic polymers are presented. The microscopic structure and general properties of these polymers and fibers are detailed. The technique of scanning electron microscopy was used to obtain these photomicrographs, achieving great visual impact and depth of focus without shadows. -- AATA
