Abstract
The fixation of aluminum and sulfate from aluminum sulfate (alum) solutions (Al2(SO4)3 x 18 H20) by a cation exchange cellulose in the calcium form (CECCa) and the simultaneous release of calcium to the solution have been observed by determination of the various ion concentrations in the solutions before and after the alum-CCECa reaction. The significance of the findings are discussed.
