Abstract
The author concludes that one has to be very careful when using soluble nylon as a consolidation product especially for the consolidation of stone surfaces during desalting with water. There is a risk that, during the soaking in water, the soluble nylon will be transformed into a very brittle, non-elastic film, which gives very little protection. Long treatment (more than one year) can cause the insolubilization of soluble nylon.
