Abstract
Samples of steatite from different quarries and artifacts from various habitation sites were analyzed by neutron activation analysis. Useful patterns were prepared by dividing the concentrations of each of the rare earth elements by the average concentration measured in chondritic meteorites, and plotting the logarithms of the normalized concentration against the atomic number. The differences between regions where steatite was quarried appeared to be greater than for material within the same quarry.
