Abstract
Describes a pre-engineered insulated facility which was erected to protect the collections at Lava Beds National Monument. This type of structure has subsequently been adopted for use at other historic sites for safe warehousing of collections. At Lava Beds an outer shell was later added to improve aesthetics and blend in with existing buildings.
