The use of elemental analysis in determining provenience is now an accepted method for application to pottery from many areas, based upon the distinctive compositions which resulted from the chemical environ-ments in which the clays were formed. The present paper describes work in progress on the analysis by neutron activation of eighty sherds primarily from the subway excavations in Mexico City. -- AATA
