The booklet is divided into five sections: a) planning; b) records, accessibility and retrieval; c) security; d) conservation; and e) storage systems. Section four deals with the influence of climate, lighting, fumigation and vibration on museum objects. In the last section various storage systems are described and illustrated, including fixed, mobile, simple and sophisticated systems which can be made by museum staff or purchased commercially. Modifications and variations to these systems are also shown. Seventy-five references are given covering general storage topics as well as types of collection (fine art, costumes and textiles, ethnography, history and archaeology, natural history and science and technology).
