Abstract
The microstructure of a 17th century boring tool for iron cannon is detailed, and the use of such a tool to clean up previously hollow (i.e., cast) barrels is described. Sketches of the tool and descriptions of its properties are given: it is laminated with a steel cutting edge, and its manufacture was a skilled process. -- AATA
