Abstract
The relative activities of Cu, Al, Mn, Mg, and Si were used to characterize iron from the Naikund site in Maharashtra State, India, a smelting site dating to the 17th century B.C. Iron artifacts from five megalithic sites were found to have corresponding activity ratios and are felt therefore to have come from this smelter. It is suggested that copper was added to reduce rusting of the iron. -- AATA
