The Research Laboratory was established in 1970. The laboratory is under the jurisdiction of the Directorate for Architecture and is especially concerned with stained glass, stone, wood and mural paintings. In close contact with restoration workshops, researches concentrate upon the examination of objects and the improvement of restoration methods. Equipment including a special small truck for laboratory work in scattered areas is described and a plan of the laboratory is discussed. Actual personnel is ten persons, most of them scientists and technicians. Organizational aspects of researches are briefly mentioned and a list of publications together with a survry of national and international relations with other institutions active in conservation is given.
