Physicochemical interactions between linear alkylbenzene sulphonate (LAS) and various linear alcohol nonionics have been investigated with reference to the effect on critical micelle concentration, surface tension, water hardness sensitivity, and detergency performance. Nonionic surfactants enhance LAS hard water performance, and act as micelle promotion agents while LAS remains responsible for surface and interfacial properties. -- AATA
