Abstract
To protect waterlogged lacquers and woodcarvings excavated at Mianyang, Sichuan province, the method that includes dehydration and keeping figure has been used to deal with twenty pieces of cultural relics. The carbinol acted as the dehydrating reagent, and the stearyl alcohol was used to keep object's figure. The result of the experiments shows that radial shrinkage is about 1%; the chord shrinkage is about 8%. Experiments prove that the carbinol and stearyl alcohol method is an effective way to be applied in cultural relics protection.
