Abstract
As part of the recent extensive restoration of the Statue of Liberty, the Crown Jewels , the 25 viewing windows in the crown, were replaced. Since each window had a unique size and shape, the new windows were made by hand from sheets and extruded angles of bronze and fitted with stainless steel hinges. Replacing the original mesh covered portals that had become tarnished and difficult to see through, the new windows provide better visibility through view-safe tempered glass (Traco). They open for cleaning and ventilation but when closed protect the interior of the statue from environmental pollution. -- AATA
