Abstract
The article is divided into the following topics: 1) experimental installation, 2) infrared radiation, 3) technical characteristics of infrared radiation, 4) detachment of floor mosaics, 5) comparison of the infrared method with other methods, 6) drying method using a propane flame, 7) drying method using infrared radiation, 8) economic comparison of the propane flame method with the infrared radiation lamp method. One of the major problems in detaching floor mosaics from the ground is moisture. The method of drying the mosaics with infrared radiation has yielded excellent results. All measurements and experiments necessary for the application of the method were carried out with the assistance of the scientific staff of Patras University, Greece. This method has proven much better than all the others applied so far for the following reasons: it does not damage the mosaics, much deeper drying is achieved, is more economical, contributes to better working conditions, and it is not hazardous to the health. -- AATA
